EARLY LIFE:

Priyanka Chopra, is a talented Bollywood actress and a former Miss World(crowned in year 2000). She was born to Capt. Dr. Ashok Chopra, commissioned officer and surgeon in the Indian army Medical Corps, and Dr. Madhu Chopra. Her childhood was laden with happiness and she grew up in the care and love of her relatives in a large extended family. Her upbringing in a family belonging to the army made her travel widely all over the country and exposed her to the multi cultural Indian society. Priyanka was a resident student of La Martiniere Girls school in Lucknow and also studied for a short while at Maria Goretti College in Bareilly. She completed 10th grade from Boston USA and her ambition was to become a software Engineer or a Criminal Psychologist. She considers her selection at the state level for the National Opus Honor Choir as her major achievement in the US.

Miss World:

After returning from Boston, she participated in the Femina Miss India contest and went on to win the title of Femina- Miss India World. She further shot into fame when she won the coveted Miss World 2000 title. Then Priyanka moved on to films.

Entry into Bollywood:

She debuted in a Tamil movie titled 'Thamizhan' (2002), opposite Tamil superstar Vijay. Her next movie was in Bollywood, 'The Hero: Love Story of a Spy' (2003), directed by Anil Sharma, in which she played second fiddle to Preity Zinta. The film didn't fare well and then she held her hopes on Suneel Darshan's 'Andaaz' (2003). Though the film fetched horrid reviews, it worked at the box-office and she got many offers, especially glamorous roles.

Setbacks:

Along with success, she was faced with controversies as well. Her father, Capt. Ashok Chopra, was involved in a scandal and at that time, she walked out of two films such as Maan Singh Deep's film 'Raja Bhaiya' and Shakeel Noorani's 'Jaan Ki Baazi' and the producers also spread rumors about her. Her two successive movies such as Sanjay Gupta's 'Plan'(2004) and Guddu Dhanoa's 'Kismat' (2004) bombed at the box-office. After the release of 'Plan', she had a spat with the producers over financial issues. Her next movie was 'Asambhav' (2004) in which she was reduced to being a mere prop and her role was only to add glamour to the proceedings. But Priyanka never allowed herself to get bogged down by these unpleasantness.

Becoming Bollywood star:

She came back with a super hit movie, 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi' (2004), in which her performance was noticed. Though the role didn't really demand histrionics, the pretty lass did her part with a certain charm. Also, she paired off very well with both Salman and Akshay. This was followed by, 'Aitraaz'(2004), which completely belonged to Priyanka. She acted pretty well and her performance won her the Filmfare Best Villain Award as well as the Star Screen Best Villain Award. The year 2005 was good for her and the list of sterling performances include Blackmail, Karam, Waqt, Yakeen, Barsaat and Bluffmaster.

After the success of the blockbuster Krrish(2006), she became the most successful box office actress in Bollywood. She has a number of films in hand including Farhan Akhtar's 'Don', Farah Khan's 'Happy New Year', Nikhil Advani's 'Salaam E Ishq' and many more.

Priyanka with her large twinkling eyes and captivating smile is genuine and has no airs or hassles. She has worked for several social welfare programmes. The strongest personality traits of this beauty is the courage of conviction and her power with words. Her brilliant performance in recent movies has established her as one of Bollywood's top actresses at the moment.

Ashok Chopra Sex Scandal:
Priyanka father Capt. Ashok Chopra was embroiled in a sex scandal though the matter seems to have died down.
On 30th November 2000, Ms. Priyanka Chopra is crowned in front of global audience. The country basks in the warmth of her glory. The little girl, barely 18, is on top of the world. Both the parents are ecstatic. But the happiness is short lived.

On 2nd December, 2000, Mrs. Shivani Saxena, Director of a Company, mother of two children and all of 37 years old, suddenly remembers that she had been molested when she was 12 years old. A good 25 years later !!

The charge turns to rape and the woman keeps changing her story when told that Dr. Ashok Chopra could not have done such a thing in his very first posting, or that they were living in barracks which do not have much privacy and an incident like this could not have gone unnoticed, or that there was no Reading Room in that Army Mess where the other alleged incidents could have taken place. She tells, Ashok has written a very detailed letter to me, I will let you all read it in to. He has also sent me this photograph taken two months after the "molestation" where she is happily singing quawwalis with him. Saxena alleges that Dr. Chopra molested her 25 years ago but did not pursue the case earlier as she did not know of Dr. Chopra's whereabouts until September 2000.

The very fact that demands were made for money and efforts were made to blackmail him into submission speak volumes about the genuineness of the case. As expected Ashok Chopra has counter sued them and he came clean out of it.

When she walked out of Maan Singh Deep's film 'Raja Bhaiyya' (opposite Govinda) and was replaced by Aarti Chabria, the producer went ballistic in bad-mouthing her.
Shakeel Noorani's 'Jaan Ki Baazi' :
When she walked out of Shakeel Noorani's 'Jaan Ki Baazi' and the producer went ballistic in bad-mouthing her.
Producers of movie 'Plan':
She even had a spat with the producers of 'Plan' over financial issues. But the matter died soon.
Harassment case against Ex-Secretary Prakash Jaju:
Prakash Jaju is a one time secretary of Priyanka. In 2004, he made a fuss about payment due from Priyanka Chopra. He put charges of threatening against Priyanka Chopra. But, Priyanka Chopra came clean out of it. This is not the first time that this man has been entangled in financial irregularities with the Artists. He has duped many film personalities in the past including Mr. Jackie Shroff, Ayesha Shroff (Film Production), Sridevi (Sridevi Investments), Hema Malini (Cosmetics Manufacture), Jaya Prada and innumerable Film Producers. He has atleast 12 cases of Financial irregularities in the Court of Indore where he belongs.
