Padmapriya (Popularly known as Priya) well known Malayalam film actress who acted in Malayalam and Tamil films. Padmapriya is an established actress in the South Indian cinema. She is a typical Tamil girl who loves Reading, Travelling, Classical Music, Cooking, Swimming and Dancing. Padmapriya is a pure vegetarian and loves good food.

Padmapriya's asset is her face that chameleons to any local milieu with ease. She can easily look like a typical Malayalaee girl in Kerala movies while transform herself completely to a local Tamil girl. She can easily be identified as a Kannadiga girl or Manavadu girl of Andhra Pradesh in any of her movies. She is the daughter of Brig (Retd) V.K. Janakiraman and Mrs. Vijaya Janakiraman. Priya is an MBA finance graduate at Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies. She has a brother Prabhakar Janakiraman who lives in USA.

Padmapriay is an MBA finance graduate at Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies. She worked for three years with GE (General Electric) as a risk consultant in Bangalore and Gurgaon.
Padmapriya started leaning Dance at the age of six. She has grown up to be a vibrant dansuese under the auspices of the famous guru Natya Brahma V.S. Ramamurthy. She performed more than 200 public performances to her credit. Her Krishna Leela Ballet, where she performed the role of Lord Krishna for Hyderabad Doordarshan in 1990 is telecast even today on almost all Krishna Jayanti festivals and was specially chosen for the SAARC exchange program - she also featured in Nritya Rupam, an innovative choreography by Jayalakshmi Eshwar at Delhi, which was also specially telecast by Delhi Doordarshan.
She has also won Miss. Andhra Pradesh in 2001

Padmapriya into Films:
Padmapriya’s passion for acting and modeling has made her successful in her films. Her first ever movie role was a sexually exploitted poor sister of a blind brother, in the Telugu movie - "Seenu Vaasanthi Lakshmi", a remake of Malayalam hit - "Vasanthiyum, Lakshmiyum pinne gnaanum..", which was later remade as "Kaasi" in Tamil. Her portrayal of a poor girl caught the attention of Blessy, the erstwhile assistant of Padmarajan, legend of Malayalam cinema. He was searching a fresh face for his off-beat film "Kaazhcha" opposite to Super star Mammooty. The role was a mother of 3 kids and how they accommodate one more kid from Gujarat earth quakes. An unusual non-glamorous debut again, Padmapriya went on to woo the classes and masses alike, making her the favourite of the western coasts of Malabar. "Kaazhcha" went on to become an off-beat classic in the annals of Malayalam cinema. 
Padmapriya then did the role of a Muslim girl who falls in love with a Hindu in Sibi Malayil's `Amritham' opposite Jayaram was the heroine in 2005's biggest blockbuster `Rajamanikyam.' There was no looking back. Padmapriya can slip like a glove easily into the roles of a college student, from a rich family who falls in love with an eccentric Sanskrit professor played by Mohanlal, in Vadakkumnathan as well a social activist based on Ajitha's life in Ashwaroodan opposite Suresh Gopi. . Her 2006 released “Karuthapakshi”, again with Mamooty was a Big hit. She acted with Sreenivasan in the Film “Yes your Honor”.

Padmapriya Entry into Tamil Cinema:
Director Cheran was looking for a homely actress for his semi-biographical "Thavamai thavamirunthu" and signed this actress. The movie was a Huge Hit and soothed the audience's hearts that longed for a brilliant performance. Then followed Pattiyal a film directed by Visnuvardhan in which she paired with Arya. Her upcoming movie in Tamil is Vasanth's "Sattham Podathey.." opposite to current heartthrob on Kerala & Tamilnadu - Prithviraj .

She then started acting in malayalam movies, were she acted with all the superstars such as Mohanlal, Mammootty, Suresh Gopi. Her first film in Tamil being Thavamai Thavamirundhu paired with actor/director Cheran, which turned to be a huge hit. She has recently come up with an allegation against Tamil Director Swamy saying she was beaten by him while shooting for the movie Mirugam.
