The King of Pop, Michael Jackson is held as the Most Successful Entertainer of All Times by the Guinness World Records. Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize in 2006, Jackson had sold 750 million units and given 300 million dollars for charity the same year.

Born to a steel mill worker Joseph Jackson and Katherine, Michael Jackson started his singing career at the age of six with four of his siblings forming a group ‘Jackson Brothers’ in 1964. With people’s appreciation pouring in, the Group renamed it as ‘Jackson 5’ in 1966 and in 1968 it was charted #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the first time ever a group pulling off such a feat.

From 1976 to 1984, Michael Jackson was the lead songwriter for the Group laying down hits like ‘Shake You Baby’, ‘This Palace Hotel’ and ‘Can You Feel it’. Jackson’s solo album ‘Off the World’ was a worldwide success in 1979. Some 20 million copies were sold and Michael Jackson became independent of his brothers. In 1980, Michael Jackson won his first award at the American Music Awards for the album. He also got Grammy Award for ‘Best R&B Vocal Performance, Male’ for the song ‘Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough’.

In 1982, Michael Jackson won two Grammy Awards for the song ‘Someone in the Dark’ and ‘Thriller’ which by far is the biggest selling album of all time with the sale of 104 million copies .In 1984, he won seven Grammy Awards for ‘Thriller’ He also got American Music Awards and three MTV Awards.

In 1987, Michael Jackson released his third album ‘Bad’. Although it was not as successful as ‘Thriller’ in terms of sales, but it too was a huge hit. In 1991, he released his fourth album ‘Dangerous Era’ which featured several hits including ‘Black and White’, ‘Remember the Times’ and ‘Heal the World’ taking him to a new peak..

In 1995 came ‘History- Past, Present and Future- Book-1’ which went to sell 18 million copies. His other hits are Invincible (2001) and Visionary (2006). Famous for his dance, fashion and voice style, Michael Jackson also acted in six films including Moonwalker, The Wiz and Captain KG.
